About Me

I have a strong passion for fitness, nutrition, and enjoying extreme sports like climbing, surfing, snowboarding, and more.  Regardless of age or gender, taking care of yourself, getting strong, and doing something a little extreme, like kite boarding or mountain biking can add so much to you life.  I want to empower women to get strong and to get outside and surprise themselves with what they never thought they would be capable of doing.

I’m trying to be a little more active on my little blog’s insta 😝 this is me and my December workout log! And setting up to do some thrusters, 💪🏻🍑the last exercise of the second to last workout of the year! Still have one sesh to put in tomorrow. I filled in several pages of my little workout log composition book this year! Learned a lot about training that I am super grateful for. I look forward to hopefully crushing my 2021 goal of climbing 5.12 outside. Worst case scenario, I’ll learn a sh*t ton along the way. I am honestly feeling good about the upcoming year and my goals for the last months of my 30s 😂 last time someone asked me how old I was I was like, “almost 40!” Which isn’t really true... 10 months to go. But I think I feel so good about getting older, something people usually dread, that I am proud of that accomplishment and feeling :). It is possible to get older and still work on being super active, even more active than you were in your early 30s and 20s. I am fortunate to say I have never really been terribly out of shape, but I am without a doubt more fit right now than I ever was in my 20s and early 30s. It is possible! #fairlyextreme
I have never been a huge fan of supplements, but a sore pinky has been the catalyst for me to do a bit of a dive into supplements for joint health. I really learned some great info about 2 supplements I will probably keep in my diet for the rest of my life! As a person who loves climbing (and other sports!) and is practically 40, I do not want achy joints and random soreness. I started these 2 supplements 10 days ago and my pinky soreness, which had been there for a month 🤷🏻‍♀️ is gone. We got a little introspective and motivational today. I have never been the kind of person who has a list of goals like a list of things to do. So it is a good practice for me to check in with my goals. There is always time to reassess and realign our actions with our goals. We don’t want to be doing it all the time. That would be a frustrating cycle! But, it is always a good practice to check out your actions and clean stuff up. Remind yourself what your WHY is. And see if you can tighten up your daily life a little bit to assure that you are making those baby steps towards your goals, and that the baby steps aren’t too small lol! Time for some@introspection and motivation! #whatisyourwhy #healthymotivation #fitnessmotivation Check out the latest post at www.fairlyextreme.com
Let the fall climbing season begin!! I’ve got my pumpkin spice coffee creamer, my pumpkin spice protein powder, my ps Lara bars... lets do this!! A totally last minute climbing trip to the NRG turned into plenty of lessons learned. New goals only get accomplished after new lessons are learned. And along the way you have to figure out what those lessons are. I’m trying to eek my way into climbing 12a territory, so needless to say my list of lessons is long! So, if you’d like to read about my lessons in swearing at the crag, losing too much skin too early, and only crying a little 😂 check out my most recent post! www.fairlyextreme.com. You can follow me @fairlyextreme to hear about my next trip coming up late September! #fairlyextreme #newrivergorgeclimbing #womenclimbing #nrgclimbing
This book has been such a help for me. I think about the messages it sends all the time. This summer when I was wiping out on 7 waves for every one wave I caught, as I wonder after 4 summers of surfing (not like a ton) how good I can get, as I get on climbs that I flashed but am now falling off, and even for school. I teach high school English, and a bit part of what we do is SEL (social emotional learning) and Rock Warrior Way is 100% SEL. It is SEL for athletes. I can even apply RWW principals as I watch my blog grow, slowly. Like watching grass grow. I understand where I am in the process, I am at 22 followers, (@fairlyextreme) not 500, I recognize that I am learning, and I think a lot about what I can do to get to the next level. It is all about learning. Success is just the culmination of a lot of learning experiences. If you are failing, you are learning and becoming a better person. You don’t become a better person and learn stuff if you are just batting 1000 all the time. Figure out what learning can happen. Unless that learning is slab climbing. Forget slab. 😝BUT. If you DO want to pick up a copy of RWW, it would be awesome to do so ANd support my little blog, over at www.fairlyextreme.com there is a blog post about RWW with my affiliate link 😝 #fairlyextreme #rockclimbing #rockwarrior #rockwarriorsway
Writing again about my little quest to climb 5.12 this fall at the NRG. I know style has a lot to do with success on a climb, so I have created info-graphics of the 5.12a climbs that could be best for me. I compiled information from Mountain Project, so instead of having 20 tabs open in your internet browser, you can have 3 pieces of paper. Side by side comparison! I also included info on available warm ups, or lack there of. The info-graphics are downloadable through a link in the blog post! If you are also trying to break into the 12a grade range, I hope this can help! Good luck! Success or Learn.
